Geography
This week we are going to be looking at the rivers and coasts of the UK. Did you know that Sheffield taken from the old English Scafeld meaning “Open Land by the River Sheaf” The city is built around the Sheaf and 4 other rivers (think of our 4 Houses and another river beginning with L!).
Before we look at how the city’s close proximity to the rivers has shaped its history, later in the year, we need to understand a little more about rivers in general.
Mrs Scammell will talk you through your lessons but instructions and files are also on the blog. I hope you find it interesting J
French
Our focus this week is going to be the French words for common drinks that you have at home. Look through the powerpoint and have a go at the role play activity at the end. Maybe you could get a sibling or parent to play with you. I also want you to go onto the Linguascope website and do some of the activities to review what we have been learning this year.
There is also a video you could watch that introduces drinks.

Wednesday
Today we are introducing Children’s Mental health week. The children will be talked through the power point in the afternoon. Activity 1 is designing themselves an outfit that fully shows who they are and what they love. There are no rules!! Activity 2 is imagining you are stranded on an island for the day (sorry, you can’t leave them there for longer) what would they eat, take with them, do….
Friday
This is based on the book The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse by Charlie Mackesy
If you haven’t seen it, there is a reading here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81b4i9jQhck&t=301s
We are asking the children to think about some of the pages and their meaning. The activity is to pick a favourite saying, or think of a positive thing and turn it into a poster like Charlie Mackesy. It would be lovely if they used the boy, mole, fox, horse theme… but in their own style. It’s their chance to be positive and creative.
