Home Learning
Home learning is a tool to help improve the quality of the learning experience offered to the pupils and to extend it beyond the classroom. It provides opportunities for parents, children and the school to work together to share and enjoy learning experiences. Home learning helps to consolidate, reinforce and extend classwork whilst encouraging the children to develop their responsibility, confidence and self-discipline to study independently. Home learning also helps to prepare children for their transition from junior school to secondary school.
Home learning is primarily set through books produced by CGP. These provide a systematic approach to the home learning process and give parents examples to help support their child. Page references are provided by teachers each week on the 'Class Story' section of 'Class Dojo'. The amount and frequency of Home Learning will increase as the pupil gets older. Reading should be done in addition to the timings below.
The following recommendations for home learning have been agreed as follows
Year 3- 30 minutes a week
Year 4- 40 minutes a week
Year 5- 50 minutes a week
Year 6 1 hour a week
