Y5 Maths Blog 1/6
Hi Y5s, I will now be responsible for uploading your Maths work for this half term. Miss Field has told me the areas you need to cover and every Monday you will get a blog update from me with 5 Maths lessons on. Have fun!
Mrs Collis
Monday
L.O: To Reason about 3D shapes
Use your shape knowledge from this year (and before) to complete these reasoning activities. There is a PDF attached with questions on. When drawing, remember to be accurate and use a ruler!
Tuesday
End of unit assessment
How did you get on? The answers are attached. If you made any mistakes or didn’t understand a particular question, look at the answer and try to work out how you can get more confident. Remember that Twinkl currently has free downloads available if you need to search for more to do.
Wednesday
L.O: To position points in the first quadrant
Coordinates! Remember to read the x axis first (horizontal) and then the y axis (vertical). On the sheet, some of the questions are repeated, you don’t have to do them twice!
Thursday
To reflect objects in the first quadrant
Today you are going to be reflecting points and shapes in a line of reflection (mirror line). There are some examples to on the powerpoint to remind you how to do this.
Steps to success –
- Take one point at a time.
- Count the distance from the mirror line and then count the same distance from the mirror line in the opposite direction.
- Remember you are reflecting, not moving the shape
- Use a ruler for drawing straight lines!
Friday
Mental Arithmetic Test
Dear Year 5
I know that you’ve already completed this assessment but it’s the skill of becoming 100% accurate that I want you to focus on this half term. Use the time wisely to not only complete the questions but then use the inverse operation to check that you are correct. From Miss Field
