Year 4 Maths Week Beginning 8th June

Hi Year 4, it’s Miss Farrah again. I hope you enjoyed last week’s maths work and are ready to work hard on more time this week.

You are going to be doing lots of questions about converting time from one unit to another.

All resources are attached to the blog post. Parents - we have included answers too.

There are a few quizzes/games on twinkl go. If you search twinkl go, you should find a login page. The pin code for any activity will be in the instructions below.

Monday

Starter – Have a go at day 1 of the Starter PowerPoint and then move on to today’s main lesson.

L.O: to convert between units of time.

  1. Keep your poster handy from last week, just in case you need to check back to remind yourself how many seconds in a minute etc.
  2. Work through the lesson PowerPoint, stopping when necessary to complete tasks.
  3. Complete Activity 1. You may choose whether you will try *,** or ***, depending on how confident you are feeling.
  4. When you have completed the activity, ask an adult to check it for you, using the answer sheet.
  5. There is a lot to do today but if you’d like to do a little more, have a go at the quiz on Twinkl go.

Tuesday

L.O: to use time knowledge to solve problems involving hours and minutes.

Starter – Have a go at day 2 of the starter PowerPoint before moving on to today’s main lesson.

  1. Again, keep your poster handy to help you solve these problems.
  2. If you need a reminder of the < and > symbols, there is an example in the resources to help.
  3. Work your way through the lesson PowerPoint, stopping when necessary to answer questions.
  4. Complete Activity 1. You may choose whether you will try *,** or ***, depending on how confident you are feeling.
  5. When you have completed it, ask an adult to check it for you, using the answer sheet.
  6. Again, there is a lot to do on the PowerPoint today but if you would like to do more, have a go at a quiz on Twinkl go.

Wednesday

Starter – Have a go at day 3 of the Starter PowerPoint before moving on to today’s tasks.

L.O: to solve problems involving converting in minutes and seconds.

  1. Again, keep your poster handy to help you solve these problems.
  2. Start with activity 1, the matching game. The instructions are on the PowerPoint.
  3. When you have finished activity 1, work your way through the lesson PowerPoint, stopping when necessary to answer questions.
  4. Complete Activity 2. You may choose whether you will try *,** or ***, depending on how confident you are feeling.
  5. When you have completed it, ask an adult to check it for you, using the answer sheet.
  6. If you would like to try a little more, have a go at the extra challenge questions.

 

 

Thursday

Starter – Have a go at day 4 of the starter PowerPoint before moving on to today’s main lesson.

L.O: to solve problems involving years and months.

  1. It may help to write down the 12 times table to help you during this lesson.
  2. Work your way through the lesson PowerPoint, stopping when necessary to answer questions.
  3. Complete Activity 1. You may choose whether you will try *,** or ***, depending on how confident you are feeling.
  4. When you have completed it, ask an adult to check it for you, using the answer sheet.
  5. If you would like to do a little more, have a go at the extra challenge activity

 

Friday

Starter – Have a go at day 5 of the Starter PowerPoint before moving on to today’s tasks.

L.O: to solve time problems involving converting between weeks and days.

  1. Spend 5 minutes going over the 7 times table. This will help you during the lesson.
  2. Work your way through the lesson PowerPoint, stopping when necessary to answer the questions.
  3. Complete Activity 1. You may choose whether you will try *,** or ***, depending on how confident you are feeling.
  4. When you have completed it, ask an adult to check it for you, using the answer sheet.
  5. If you would like to do an extra challenge, ask an adult to hide the extra challenge questions around the house or garden and then do a treasure hunt to find the questions and answer them. Make sure you write down your calculations, in case you get it wrong and then your adult will know where you went wrong.
  6. Parents -  The questions will need cutting out and the answer sheet needs to stay hidden. Enjoy!
