L.O: To divide with remainders
A remainder is when there is something left over when you have shared everything else out equally. (Think of it like an extra sweet left in the bag when you’ve shared them out)
This video explains remainders really clearly: https://vimeo.com/492449125
Mrs Scammell has her dried pasta at the ready and will be going through this with you!
You could use pieces of dried pasta or counters or beads to help you today if you need to.
Calculate:
25 ÷ 4 = 18 ÷ 4 =
41 ÷ 8 = 23 ÷ 3 =
You can then try the problem solving task and the challenge. Good luck!
Tuesday
L.O – To solve problems using scaling
Ooh, this is a bit different! You will be saying things like “There are 4 x as many chimpanzees” or “Mrs Scammell has 3 times as many sweets as Mrs Collis” L
Wednesday
L.O – To find different combination to solve problems.
We are problem solving today. We’re going to find all the possible solutions to a problem. For example – Mrs Collis can choose either vanilla or chocolate ice cream. She can have either chocolate, fudge or strawberry sauce. How many different combinations can she have?
If you are a confident mathematician you could start on question 3 and afterwards try today’s robot challenge!
Thursday
End of unit assessment
This is your priority task today. We would like you to do as independently as possible. If you found a question really difficult please put a * next to it and I will go through some examples tomorrow morning. Good luck! Remember to read the questions carefully and double check your answers.
Friday
Maths Mats as normal. PLEASE use column method if you can for calculations!
