Year 3 Remote Education Friday 5th March
Date: 26th Feb 2021 @ 4:11pm
Today is a little bit different to normal because we want to be able to finish the fantastic work we started during lockdown and make sure the children have some closure from remote education.
SCIENCE
LESSON 1 (9am) : L.O: To investigate what plants need to grow
Last week you were hopefully able to set up experiments to compare plants growing in light/dark warm/cold and wet/dry How are your plants?
Task 1
Being an observational scientist – carefully draw the results of your experiment. What adjectives would you use to describe your different plants? If you weren’t able to do the experiment yourself I have included some pictures. Out of each pair of plants, decide which plant looks the healthiest and explain why.
Example – the plant with the light is the healthiest because it is green, upright and its leaves are shiny.
Task 2
Make a poster showing what plants need to grow.
Challenge -Although we know that plants need warmth, water and sunlight to survive, different types of plant need different types of each. Can you find out about a plant that doesn’t need much water or one that can survive in the cold?
LESSON 2 (10:45) : L.O: To investigate why plants need leaves
During this lesson we will be looking at the results of your leaf experiment. (Please ignore the wrong dates, we have had to have a shuffle round of lessons!) We learn that plants make their own food using sunlight, water and air.
Task 3
Make a plant booklet showing the function of all parts of a plant. Try to include as much information in your writing as possible. You cut out the left hand side and stick it ontop of the right hand side to make a flappy front cover.
Afternoon -
PSHE Lets think about our best memories from this period of Remote Education. What are the children looking forward to about returning to school? Do the children want to share any thoughts or worries?
