Y5WH investigate how to measure the height of a tree
Date: 17th Apr 2019 @ 7:00am
We spent the afternoon on the field looking at the trees. First we tried to identify the names of some of the trees (it was a bit difficult as some of the trees we just a bit too tall). Then, we used three different methods to find the height of a tree using clinometers, tape measures and trundle wheels.
Natalie said, “We learnt to measure the height of trees without climbing to the top and dangling a tape measure.”
”It was better than a normal afternoon; it was above average.” Was how Will felt.
Eleanor explained, “We learnt about the trees by looking at the leaves.”
