Lesson 1

L.O: To give reasons for why an object could be symbolic

Look at the second page of the flipchart. Who might these objects belong to? Why has he kept them? How old are they and what could they mean?

 

Watch this video:  https://www.literacyshed.com/piano.html  then write down three words to describe it.

Task - Explain how the images could be described as symbolism.

Cut each image out and next to it create a sentence describing what the symbolism could be.

E.g.

His wife sitting beside him kissing his cheek.

This is symbolic as it shows that his wife will always love him, even when she is not there.

 

Lesson 2

L.O.: To explore characters’ relationships

Watch yesterday’s video clip again. What characters appear in the video?

Task 1 Write at least two questions that you would like to ask them.

Task 2 Create a relationship web like the one on the flipchart. What is the relationship between the characters? How do they feel about each other? (See flipchart for challenge)

 

Lesson 3

L.O: To describe a character

Re-watch the first 30 seconds of the video.

Task 1 What verbs can you use to describe what the man is doing? Can you add adverbs? Fill in your vocabulary builder sheet and then add nouns and adjectives.

Task 2 Write five sentences describing the old man and what he is doing. Aim for different sentence starters. Colour code your sentences for different word groups

 

Lesson 4

LO: To expand sentences to add detail.
