Y4CF experiment with pitch

Today Y4CF was experimenting with high and low sounds. First we flattened about 2cm of a plastic straw. Then we cut one end of the straw so it looked like a point. Finally we blew.  The sound was low, but when we cut a bit off the end, the pitch went higher.
