Lesson 1
LO: to become skilled in drawing by exploring ideas.
STARTER
Look at first page on flipchart.
Discuss how pencils are rated in terms of softness and hardness.
As a table look at the pencils we have and try them out on the paper in the middle.
After a few minutes Round Robin thoughts on pencils – pose questions:
Why is it necessary to have different types?
Which ones do you prefer?
What would you use particular ones for?

Go to youtube clip for shading techniques (ignore ‘outline’ bit).

Do a demonstration of different shading techniques.
Lesson 2
LO: to produce creative work by using observations made in sketchbooks.
Look at pictures of minibeasts.
What will shading do? Round robin
Make it look 3D, show dark and light, show how the colour differs, show texture – on flipchart – did they say these in their group?

up to 1:25 – just the pencil outline bit.
Demonstrate drawing an outline of a minibeast if you can and then show how to add some shading for 3D, texture etc…
Task- Choose a picture you want to copy, to draw a minibeast outline and then add shading.
Use shading techniques from last lesson to show:
- Texture
- Dark and light
- Different colours
- It is a 3D shape
PE
Remember the importance of a healthy life style: Drink water, don’t have unhealthy snacks, and be active for at least an hour a day. Remember that if you are isolating, you can still go into your garden! If the weathers isn’t nice, there’s lot of things you can do online such as Joe Wickes, Go Noodle… If you need some inspiration for indoor or outdoor exercise, use these tasks!
