LO: To explore the life of a modern inspirational Hindu –
Mohandas Ghandi
Watch: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zjkj382/articles/z4fwy9q
(you watched this short clip a few weeks ago so this is just a quick recap)
Ghandi disagreed with the way people were treated differently.
Do you ever think you are treated unfairly?
How do you disputes like this get resolved?
Ghandi had lots of ideas about how to make changes in the world and lots of people listened to him.
Read through the Gandhi Quotes power point. These are some of the wise things Ghandi said to the world.
Can you pick one and write what you think it means?
E.g. ‘In a gentle way you can shake the world’
This quote means that even if you do something small and in a gentle way, you can still make a difference to changing how people think and act, or change things for the better.
Do you agree with the message? Why?
Can you think of a difficult situation or something you find unfair in the world?
Is there a quote that would help this situation at all?
E.g. Climate change – ‘You must be the change you wish to see in the world’.
If you worry about climate change, we need to make changes in our life style to help.
Turning light switches off, using cars less and eating less meat, are all things we could do to help. We could be the change.
Task –
- Pick a quote
- Write what you think it means
- Give an example of how your quote could help a difficult situation in the world
See the WAGOLL for a way to present your work.

Task 2 – Non – Fiction

Look at this website: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/63018728/
How is the dinosaur moving? Investigate the code. How does it change the colour of the pen? How does the dinosaur sprite know which colour has been selected? Click the ‘See Inside’ button to view the code.
Now look at this website: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/278699155/
The dinosaur only moves in two directions. Can you complete the code so that it moves in all four directions? Add another button so that the pen changes to a different colour.
Challenge: Can you create a drawing program of your own using what you’ve learnt about Scratch?
