LO: Recap Count in tenths

Watch: https://vimeo.com/502686139

Today you are going to be thinking about counting in tenths.

Think carefully about the number line questions.  Check the numbers at either end of the number line carefully.

Question 6 onwards is pretty tricky, so just do questions 1-5 if you aren’t feeling too confident.

There is a support task that you might prefer to do.

Mark your work with the answer sheets.

Challenge – There are 3 sheets with more challenging questions, counting in tenths.  Have a go at one of them – you can choose which.

Tuesday 09.02.21

LO: Recap Equivalent fractions (1)

Watch: https://vimeo.com/504289061

Use the Fraction Wall pdf to help you answer the questions. You should be able to give all of them a go with the help of the Fraction Wall

*This is a really useful resource and can help you work independently.

Remember to shade the bar models really carefully and accurately.

Have a look at this website if you need a bit more help:  https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zsxhfg8/articles/zwjwgdm

Mark your work with the answer sheet.

There is a challenge (9-11.02.21 – Challenge) for today, Wednesday and Thursday.

Wednesday 10.02.21

LO: Recap Equivalent fractions (2)

Watch: https://vimeo.com/504316253

The questions today are building on what you learnt yesterday.

Make sure you have the Fraction Wall to look at again.  This will really help you to either find the answers if you are not sure, or to check your answers are right.

From question 3, the questions start to get much harder, so just work through the questions you can do, using the fraction wall.

Alternatively, you can try the support task:

  • Use the bar models to help you find the equivalent fraction pairs.
  • Shade in the equivalent fractions on the bar models.
  • Write the fractions out as being equal to each other.
  • Follow the example.
  • Check your work with the fraction wall before the answer sheet and make any corrections.

Challenge – 2nd page of ‘9-11.02.21 – Challenge’.

Thursday 11.02.21

LO: Equivalent fractions (1)

Watch: https://vimeo.com/504472462

Just work through the first sheet if you find the second one too much of a challenge.

Numerator = Top number in a fraction

Denominator = Bottom number in a fraction

Equivalent = A fraction that is the same as another fraction with a different denominator

Try the support task if you think it is too hard.

Challenge – 3rd page of ‘9-11.02.21 – Challenge’.

Friday 12.02.21

LO: Equivalent fractions (2)

Watch: https://vimeo.com/504801539

You can still use the fraction walls to help you but you should be starting to use the method of multiplying the numerator and denominator by the same number to find equivalent fractions.

If you feel like you need a bit more practice, you can do the support task first and then try the main task.

Challenge – Tackle the word problems on equivalent fractions.
