Y4 Home learning 18th May
Date: 17th May 2020 @ 1:48pm
Hi Year 4`s, Miss Fee here. I hope you have all been keeping safe and busy at home. I`m really missing you all and can`t wait to see you all again very soon.
Today`s blog will consist of Maths, SPAG, PE & D&T.
I have added an extra Art lesson in too but this is optional :) I have also set up a battle on TTRS – Y4 girls vs Y4 boys so I look forward to seeing who comes out on top when it finishes next Monday!
Maths
L.O - To interpret data and solve problems using reasoning.
Over the past week, you have been focusing on our new Maths topic of ‘statistics’. Today we will continue with this, but today`s task also includes reasoning and problem solving. This will mean that you need to not only solve the problems but on some questions you will also need to justify your answers.
You will need some squared paper for this task. I have attached some to this blog and you can print it out if you need some.
Everyone should complete the core task. If you are feeling really confident give the challenge cards a go. If you would really like to challenge yourself, use the Tower Hamlets language card to justify your answers.
SPAG
L.O - To use the present perfect form of verbs in contrast to the simple past tense.
What is past tense?
Past tense is used when speaking about activities that have been completed in the past.
What is the present perfect tense?
Present perfect tense is used for activities that started in the past but are still true now, or have an effect on what is happening now.
Example
"She has lived here for two years."
This sentence is in the present perfect tense because it describes something that is still happening.
Read through the PowerPoint to familiarise yourself with both tenses. Then give the worksheet a go.
There are three worksheets.
1* - I am finding this a little confusing
2** - I`m ok with this
3*** - I`m confident with this task
Of course if you want to try all three then go for it!
Challenge – Can you come up with your own sentences that could be written in either past tense or present perfect tense? Write them out in past tense first and then change them to present perfect. Think about what you have been doing during your time at home!
PE
D&T –
L.O – To construct a bug hotel.
Over the past week or so, you have been designing and planning your very own bug hotel. You should have thought about what your hotel is going to look like & what materials you are going to need in order to build it. Hopefully, you now have the tools you will need to start creating your hotel! Take your time with your project and ensure that it is strong and fit for purpose! We would absolutely love to see a picture of your hotel when you have completed it so make sure you send one in :) Happy constructing!

Optional Art lesson
I wanted to give you all the opportunity to complete this task as it is something the children did whilst in school last week and it was a really great chance to be as creative as possible! The powerpoint I have attached is all about an artist called Keith Haring. His style of art is well known for its bold, bright colours with thick outlines and a cartoon-like style. Read through the powerpoint and then give it a go yourself!
