LO: To plan a descriptive setting
Today you will be using all the skills you’ve learnt so far to plan a description of Narnia. Remember, you’ve practised expanded noun phrases and fronted adverbials.
- Print out the planning sheet, in each section can you write words and phrases that describe what Narnia looks like? If you can’t print the sheet, then make notes on paper under the different headings.
- Experiment with noun phrases and fronted adverbials.
- Make sure you refer to the success criteria.

LO: To write a descriptive setting
Now you are going to put your notes from yesterday into a piece of writing. Your writing is going to be a setting description of Narnia.

- Use the success criteria and tick off each point as you include it in your writing.
- Write AT LEAST a paragraph describing Narnia.

LO: To practise editing writing
It is so important to be able to check and redraft what you have written, BUT it is one of the things that everybody dislikes doing!! Today you are going to practise editing and improving some sentences.
- Go through the PowerPoint and try the activities that it suggests on the slides.
- Choose one of the activity sheets. * if you are not feeling very confident, ** if you feel fairly confident and *** if you feel super confident.
- Work through the sheet, editing the sentences as you go along.

LO: To edit to make improvements
Can you remember what proof reading is? Yes it’s going through your writing really carefully and making sure there are no errors, as well as improving your sentences so that they are really exciting and interesting

- Go back to the description of Narnia that you wrote on Tuesday. Using the skills you practised yesterday, you need to go back and improve your description.

LO: To practise spelling words with ‘au’ in them
- Read the PowerPoint and choose 4 words from it. Write 4 sentences that contain your chosen words – make sure you spell them correctly!
