Y3 Stone Age Day

Date: 13th Nov 2018 @ 10:10pm

What better way to answer some of our classroom questions about the Stone Age than to don our costumes and travel back in time? This week, that's just what Y3 did!

We foraged for natural painting tools to create mini cave paintings and made jewellery to replicate shell necklaces worn in the Stone Age. Guided by archeologist Kathryn, we learnt how difficult life in the Stone Age could be as we attempted to make flint arrows, prepare animal skins and hammer pretend animal gut. We became archeologists and used bones as evidence to help us identify Stone Age animals.

As the day progressed, so too did the lives of the Stone Age people we studied from scavengers, to hunters, to farmers. In our settlements we built fences, put skeletons back together, ground maize to make flour and even milked sheep!

Well done Y3, we yabba dabba do hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
