Geography

L.O: To describe and identify coastlines

Today, you are going to be learning the features of a coastline.

When we think of a coast, we quite often think about places we have been on holiday, perhaps by the beach, but there are lots of different types of coasts, and there are also lots of different features that make up a coast.

Task 1 - done with Mrs S in the afternon call

Task 2 – Take a look at the pictures of the different coasts first. What differences do you notice? Once you have done this, spend some time looking at the diagram of a coast and learning the names and definitions of the different features.

Can you challenge yourself by covering them up and trying to remember them? Once you have done that, label the diagram correctly.

Task 3 – Take a look at the map of the UK. Colour in where you think the coasts are. Once you have finished that, take a look at the answer sheet and see if you were correct!

Finally, take a look at this amazing video of Christian Lewis, who walked the entire coastline of the UK with his dog Jett. Look out for the features of a coastline that you have learnt in today`s lesson, how many can you spot?
