Y3 Home Learning Friday 15th May
Date: 14th May 2020 @ 10:46pm
Hello year 3,
It's Mrs Scammell here, I hope you are all well!
I have been quite busy this week with work but have also made sure that we all did some fun activities. We've been exploring footpaths and bridleways near us for our daily exercise. We discovered a whole meadow of buttercups that I never knew existed. We have also organised a sunflower growing competition for our street; our plants are doing very well but our friends at number 32 think they will win... we shall see!
Today, in addition to our maths and English work, we have two special activities for you to try out as promised to Y3SC on our class chat meeting.
Activity 1 Create an animation
Sophie has been busy creating animations using soft clay and she shared a very funny one with us on our class chat. She has made another one here for you. Sophie used Google photos and made a movie so she could add music. Her previous animation linked lots of photos to make it look like her characters were moving, just like the creators of Wallace and Grommit.
Steps to success
1) Create a backdrop for your animation (Sophie decorated a box for this-great idea!)
2) Create characters out of plasticine or fymo.
3) Take a photo of your characters in their starting position.
4) Move your characters in to a slightly new position and then take a photo.
5) Repeat step 4 until your characters are in their end position.
6) Link all the photos together using google photos or a similar programme to create an animation.
7) Share your video with your class teacher!
Activity 2 Create a Lego Marble Maze
For this activitiy you will need a lego base board, some bricks and a marble. You can add a theme to your marble run and use whatever spare bricks you have. Time yourself, can you beat your time? Challenge your family, who is the quickest?
Maths Continuing with the topic of time we have some work to calculate start and end times.
English Describing characters and using this to help you write a story with a SUPER theme.
See you soon,
Mrs Scammell :)
