Y3 Eggs Factor Eggstravaganza
It was an eggciting first day back after the Easter holidays as Year 3 were the first year group to hold their egg drop. As part of the STEAM week celebrations focusing on science, technology, engineering, architecture and maths the children were given an opportunity over the holidays to design and make a container to hold an egg so that it would survive a drop. There were some really inventive designs and the amount of research and effort was eggsemplary. Mr White had the eggstreme honour of dropping the eggs. There were 87 entries in total and we were astonished to see the range of design. We also enjoyed counting down each drop. There were 37 eggs that remained intact after the first round and these were put through a second round. 25 eggs survived Round 2. These survivors were then judged by the eggcellent judges for design structure, ease of egg removal and overall appearance.
The overall winners were Phoebe, Poppy, Sumayya and Oliver who all received a large Easter egg.
