Geography Awareness Week
Date: 18th Nov 2019 @ 3:51pm
This week everyone is celebrating Geography Awareness Week; the purpose of this is to celebrate the important role geography plays in our lives.
In Year 5, we spent the afternoon debating climate change issues and the impact it will have on our future. Each team took on the role of various sections of our world community such as the UK's Prime Minister, the head of coal and gas company or a climate scientist.
Everyone really enjoyed taking on their different roles, using their speaking and listening skills to debate different points of view.
By the end of the afternoon, everyone understood some of the effects climate change has on jobs, transport, energy, environment, food, and natural habitats and recognised what they could do to make a postive impact on this issue.
