Maths – Assessment Week
22.03.21 –
Starter
Write yourself or ask someone at home to write you an add, subtract, division and multiplication sum. Now can you do and add and subtract sum using fractions? What can you remember about writing fractions as equivalent decimals?
Find Paper 1. Now that you have got your brain warmed up, find somewhere comfortable to sit, make sure there is nothing to distract you. You’ll need a sharp pencil and ruler. Ask someone to time you, or use a timer, you will need 20 minutes when you’re ready to start. First read the instructions on the first page. Work through the questions. If you are stuck, leave it and come back to it. I’m really sorry but you can’t ask anyone to help today, so just do your best. Your teacher will want to see your paper so that they can see the bits that you need help with.
23.03.21 –
Now you’re going to mark your assessment, I know it’s tempting to alter some of your answers but that really isn’t going to help you, like I said yesterday your teacher will want to see your paper and they will want to help you (and maybe others in your class) on the questions you found tricky.
Is there a pattern? Is there something that you could find on a YouTube clip or BBC Bitesize clip that might show you something you’ve forgotten. If you’ve got time, practise a few.
24.03.21 –
Find Paper 2. Today you are going to complete the problem solving and reasoning paper. Today you will have 35 minutes, so get the timer ready. You’ll need a sharp pencil and ruler. This paper has lots of different types of questions. If you need some help, someone can read it to you but they can’t help – sorry. As you’re working your way through the paper it might help to draw pictures or diagrams or bar models to help. First read the instructions on the first page. When you’re ready begin.
25.03.21 –
Just like Tuesday you’re going to check through your answers. Is there a topic that you have found particularly difficult like area or perimeter or shapes? Try finding a clip on YouTube or BBC Bitesize to help. If there is an answer you’re not sure about, show your teacher when you are next in school.
26.03.21 – SAFE sheet. Find yourself a quiet place to work, give yourself about 20 minutes to complete the task, then mark your work. Just like the rest of this week, if there’s a topic you are unsure about, find a clip to help jog your memory.
