Hi Year 4, it’s Miss Jagger here. I hope you are all ok and staying safe!
This blog post includes a maths, writing, P.E and D&T task for you to be getting on with. Don’t forget you can still log onto TT Rockstars, Spelling Shed and MyMaths if you want any extra practise J
I’m missing you all and hopefully see you all soon!
Maths L.O. To draw and interpret bar charts On Wednesday, you started a new topic of ‘statistics’ and focussed on interpreting bar charts. Today you will be continuing work on bar charts but will also have the opportunity to draw your own based on your own research question. I have attached the work sheets onto this blog for you to work through. The sheets are differentiated. 1* - I’m finding bar charts a little hard 2* - I’m ok with bar charts 3* - I feel really confident with bar charts. You can of course do all the sheets if you want J Challenge The last question of each 1*, 2* and the last 2 questions of 3* asks you to create your own research question, collect data and display your results in the form of a bar chart. If you wanted to, you could virtually gather data from family and friends. Remember to give options for their answers. Examples research questions could be… ‘What is your favourite flavour of ice cream?’ ‘What is your favourite hot drink?’ ‘What is your favourite type of holiday?’ If you do not want to conduct your own research question, there are two images of data below that you can turn into a bar chart.

English LO To use features of a newspaper report Today I would like you to plan and write your own newspaper report using the skills that you have developed throughout the year. I would like you to write a newspaper report about one of the following: •Turning a nursery rhyme event into a news story, e.g. Humpty Dumpty •A real or imaginary event at Dobcroft e.g. A glider lands on Dobcroft field OR a celebrity visits Dobcroft OR Dobcroft wins an award. •Your own event (It can be real or made up!) Success Criteria 1) Is there a bold and eye catching headline? (Alliteration/letter play/pun/rhyme) 2) Are there paragraphs? 3) Is there a stand first (first couple of sentences) summarising the ‘W’ details? 4) Is it written in a ‘news style’ with factual, informative sentences giving details about who / what / where / when / why/how? 5) Does it use quotations? 6)Have I given detail about the speaker of the quote E.g. A nearby tourist commented angrily, “I am absolutely outraged by the announcement!” 7) Is there a picture or photograph with a caption? 8) Is there a conclusion at the end of the report? I have uploaded a WAGOLL document onto this blog so that you can read that through before you create your own newspaper report. There is also a Newspaper template, for you to write on or follow the layout. |
