Year 5 Home Learning - Friday 2nd October

Date: 28th Sep 2020 @ 12:29pm

Date set: Friday 2/10/2020

To be completed by: Wednesday 7/10/2020

Children in Year 5 are expected to complete 50 minutes of homework each week. Please help and support your child wherever possible. However, your child should be able to complete the work independently as it is linked to objectives taught during the week at school. Although homework is now set through online platforms, your child’s teacher is able to see if your child has completed tasks set and how well they have understood the task. Rewards will be given to children for completing homework on time.

English

Focus: Expanded noun phrases

Please login to your ActiveLearnPrimary account (www.activelearnprimary.co.uk). Your child’s passwords has been sent out on the Y5 newsletter.

Focus: Spelling game using words ending in -tial and -cial.
If you have time, there is also a spelling activity that we have set on the activelearn website that will help you to consolidate this week's and last week's spelling pattern: words ending in -tial and -cial

Reading

Please continue to read at least three times a week to an adult or by yourself. You are all doing so well with your reading and it's great to hear how enthused you are about particular authors. Although we aren't using our reading logs at the moment, your teacher still wants to hear all about the fantastic texts you are reading at home.

Spellings

Focus: Words ending in ‘-tial’. Top tip- after a consonant ‘-tial’ is most common but there are many exceptions.

potential

essential

substantial

influential

Please login in to your Spelling shed account if your child wishes to extend their spelling knowledge after practising their weekly spellings. (Your child’s password has been sent out on the Y5 newsletter)
