RE

LO: Inspirational people in today’s world – Hinduism/Christianity focus

Watch the clip about Ghandi:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zjkj382/articles/z4fwy9q

Ghandi is considered an inspirational person.  Why do you think that is?

Print out the second page of the PDF and answer the questions as fully as you can.

For the last question – I think you are all inspiring if you are managing to do the work we are setting as independently as you can.  This is a really difficult situation and you are showing great resilience by just attempting the work!

Music

Task 1

LO: To learn about a composer and perform body percussion

Florence Price overcame prejudice to become the first black female composer to have her work performed by a major orchestra!

Watch and read: https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/ten-pieces/classical-music-florence-price-symphony-no1/z48rscw    Design a poster containing at least 5 facts about Florence Price.  It can be as colourful and creative as you wish.  Take a picture of your poster and put it on Class Dojo.

In the video, the West African rhythms are re-created as body percussion.  Can you copy them?  Once you have mastered one hand, can you use both hands?!

What other repeating rhythms can you create by patting and slapping your arms, legs and chest?  How about including stamping with your feet?

Have fun!

Task 2

LO: To listen to a performance and identify the instruments

Last summer, a group of children, young people and adults recorded themselves playing ‘All You Need Is Love’ by the Beatles.   All the separate recordings have been put together to make one ‘virtual’ performance.

Have a listen – stop it at 5m42s.  List how many instruments you can name! There are a few that you may not recognise, but can you guess what they are or whether they are percussion, wind, brass, string or electronic?

Then, look at the credits (after 5m42s) to see if you’re correct! https://youtu.be/yW3WC5bYrAY

If you’d like a challenge, listen to the original version so you can compare.  Which version do you prefer and why?

PE

Task 1 (Weds)

LO: To improve level of fitness

  1. 3 minute challenge

Make sure you find a safe space

You could start by doing the exercises for 1 minute, then 2 minutes and then the full 3 minutes

Rest for the same amount of time you worked eg 1 minute working = 1 minute resting. Have a drink during your resting time.

Can you change the exercises and repeat the challenge?

  1. Change it

Make sure you find a safe space

You could use more cushions, as long as one is always empty at the beginning

If you work for 2 minutes can you double your score?!

Rest for the same amount of time you worked eg 1 minute working = 1 minute resting. Have a drink during your resting time.

Task 2 (Thurs)

LO: To improve level of fitness

Joe Wicks is back!

Go onto Youtube and find today’s workout.

This one (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnOtrnh80hs) is from Weds last week but you can find today’s one by putting the correct date in.

Good luck!  I always really ache the next day!
