Y3 English WB 22nd June

Date: 15th Jun 2020 @ 2:31pm

Hi Year 3,

We hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend.

Did you know that pigeons are a really clever animal because they can be used to carry messages? In the past, especially during wars, pigeons have been used to deliver important messages. This week you read a story about a pigeon.

Later in the week, you will explore shape poetry. You will have lots of fun designing your own calligram for an animal using the letters in its name. Can you remember when you did some Christmas calligrams?

Monday 22nd June

Aim: Listening to a song. Direct speech. Retelling the story.

Listen to the song, ‘The King of Rome’ which tells a story. Then revise and practise direct speech using the PowerPoint and video to help. Don’t forget you started practising direct speech on Friday. Can you make your own version of the pigeon story?

Wednesday 24th June

Aim: Calligrams. Investigating and creating.

Can you remember what a calligram is? Watch the animation of calligrams, ‘Bembo’s Zoo’. Can you investigate some designs and make a calligram design of your own?

Thursday 25th June

Aim: Reading a poem. Conjunctions.

Today you will read a triangle poem. Why do you think it’s called a triangle poem?

Can you practise using conjunctions to join clauses? Use the PowerPoint to help you. The conjunction video will also help you.
