Y4 - 27th March

Date: 25th Mar 2020 @ 8:10pm

Hello lovely y4s, it's Miss Fee here! We are missing those of you who are not in school with us at the moment but we hope that you are keeping safe and well. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday during term time, myself, Miss Jagger, Mrs Lowe & Mrs Waggott will be updating your home learning tasks. There will be Maths, English and some Wider curriculum work to complete but don`t forget about the other platforms you can access too - Spelling Shed, My Maths & Times Tables Rockstar. Try and do some work everyday to keep building on the amazing progress you've already made this year, as well as keeping active and helpful at home.

We can't wait to see you all soon.

Maths

LO To find the area of shapes

In the last blog, we asked you to head over to Twinkl and complete the ‘Year 4 Diving into Mastery: What is Area? Teaching Pack.

Now that you have done that, we would like you to have a look around your home (and possibly head out into the garden seen as though the weather is so lovely!) and find the area of as many rectangles that you can find! What is the largest area you can find?! We`d love to know!

Don’t forget you can log in to your My Maths account for extra maths learning and search for area (this login was given out at school – contact the school office if you need a reminder!)

English

LO To use features of poetry

In the last blog, we asked you to create an acrostic poem. Today we would like you to visit www.twinkl.co.uk (enter code UKTWINKLHELPS) and find the Poetry Terms powerpoint. Within this powerpoint, you will learn lots of different ways in which poetry can be written. We would like you to choose TWO skills and create a poem about a topic of your choice. For example, you may choose alliteration and rhyme.

*You could write a poem and have positivity as the subject and then display it where people can see it, OR you could send it to someone to make them smile :)*

Wider Curriculum

P.E – Make sure you are tuning into live P.E sessions with Joe Wicks every day. We are doing it every morning in school too! Almost ONE MILLION households are watching Joe every morning - Isn`t it great to know that you are taking part in something with so many other children?

*Challenge* Can you complete the name workout every day?!

Science –
LO: To identify the parts of the digestive system in humans.

As mentioned in our last blog, we are soon going to be starting our new topic of teeth and the digestive system. To become more familiar with the parts of the body that make up the digestive system go to the following link: https://www.sheppardsoftware.com/health/anatomy/digestion/digestion_game_1.htm

On this website, there are two games. We would like you to start with game one and then challenge yourself with game two. Finally, complete the quiz to see how much you have learnt!
